Terroir: Combination of marl, limestone, sandstone soils (Grand cru Saering vineyard), clay, sandstone (Grand Cru Kessler, in Guebwiller, South East facing) and marl-sandstone (Grand Cru Spiegel in Bergholtz)
Grapes: Muscat d’Alsace blanc and rose, Muscat Ottonel (60%), Gewurztraminer (40%)
Farming: Organic & Biodymamic (certified)
Aromatics: Notes of rose, eucalyptus and menthol.
Palate: Muscat and Gewurztraminer create a lively palate, savoury and textural with delicious fresh grapes flavours and beautiful length. This is a delicious orange wine with soft tannins and playful yet complex palate. An incredible result with only so few vintage with this cuvee.
About the wine: Work of the soil by ploughing to encourage deep roots for a better terroir expression. The vines that make this wine are in average 25 years old. Hand-picked, 15 days maceration co-fermented (muscat and gewürztraminer), destemmed grapes. Fermentation with natural yeast and malolactic in tanks, no added sulphur and no filtration. The label represent Ludivine Dirler distinctive and unique eye pupil.
When to drink: Drink now or in the next 4 years after vintage.
Service: 8 to 10 C degrees in Riesling glass.
Food match: Great as an aperitif with some cured meat, lentil dhal or steamed vegetable with spices (coriander, cumin)
