2022 Camin Larredya, Jurançon 'Les Grains des Copains' sweet

Appellation: AOC Jurançon moelleux (South-West France region)

Grapes: Petit Manseng (80%), Gros Manseng (20%)

Farming: Organic (Not certified)

Aromatics: Pineapple, mango, apricot and mandarin.

Palate: Beautiful texture, with mango and apricot continuing through to the palate in a lovely way. This wine is lengthy and balanced. This is a multi-dimension wine, with a mineral elegant finish thanks to the altitude terroir of Jurançon.

About the wine: A sweet, late harvest wine, with no botrytis and 60 g residual sugar without feeling cloying. Made from 25-year-old vines growing on a mix of clay, silica and local poudingues. Yields are low, 30 hl/ha, with hand harvesting in late October and November. In the winery the grapes go through direct pressing and fermentation in 225 litre barrels, with 5% new oak as well as 1200 to 2500 litre foudres. No maloactic. Aged 6 months on lees.

When to drink: Drink now or in the next 5-6 years.

Service: 6 to 8 degrees C.

Food match: A very versatile wine. Pair with foie gras and figs, spicy food, roasted chicken with grapes, Roquefort cheese, pavlova or lemon tart
